Recycling

In the UK and Europe we have extensive recycling programs in place in our warehouse, distribution and head office facilities for the sustainable disposal of pallets, plastics, paper, ink and toner, and technology items.

Staples are one of the largest collectors of ink and toner cartridges for recycling in the world, recycling more than 400 million cartridges globally since 2005. We are also a leading recycler of office electronics globally, collecting approximately 20 million pounds of eWaste in 2013 on a global scale.

Staples encourages customers to order a toner collection box free of charge with a standard stationery order. Once the box is full, customers can book in for a scheduled collection whereby an authorised waste collection agent will pick up the cartridges and take them to an authorised recycling facility.

Staples are also taking steps to:

• Recycle ALL cardboard, paper, plastics, wood, scrap metal, electrical equipment and ink toner cartridges in ALL of our business locations
• Expand our recycling capacity to include kitchen waste, glass bottles and aluminium cans
• Introduce a range of smaller, more compact boxes to our packaging range in order to reduce the volume of cardboard dispatched to customers

Recycled Packaging

Your orders will be contained in boxes that are made up of recycled materials and wherever possible, they are 95% filled to capacity. 100% Biodegradable plastic bags are used for single items where necessary.

When we install furniture ordered from our primary suppliers, all of the packaging and disused furniture is back- hauled to the supplier, where the packaging is then recycled and the furniture distributed to charitable causes.
