Workplace fitness trackers
Fitness trackers designed for the workplace set to launch
RSI, backache, stress and weight gain – we’re all aware of the potential health problems associated with spending too much time in the office. At this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, hundreds of companies have been showing off new products for the workplace and beyond, from curvy TVs and cutting edge smartphones to 4K TVs. Here at Staples Advantage, one of the products that most interested us most was Garmin’s workplace fitness tracker.
The fitness tracker is designed to help office workers keep track of their daily exercise. The tracker, called Vivoki, is small and water resistant, fitting easily into pockets or clipping onto clothes. Garmin’s aim is to make Vivoki more than a traditional pedometer in that it tracks exercise intensity in addition to the number of steps taken. It automatically uploads your activity online, so you can view it at later date. In addition, the device features a number of LED lights that show the progress its wearer has made towards their daily fitness goals.
Employers who are looking for new ways to improve their employees’ wellbeing can use the device’s data to follow their employees’ fitness efforts, set new goals and perhaps award prizes to the most active employee. Vivoki will be available from May 2014, with pricing (at the time of writing) yet to be confirmed.
Fitness trackers are just one way of improving the wellbeing and productivity of your workforce. A healthy workforce is also related to your office environment, so do you have the facility solutions in place to maintain a healthy, hygienic working environment?
