Easy on the Planet
Easy on the Planet: how we stay green, and you can too!
Over the past two decades, green issues have become increasingly prevalent on the global agenda. As our scientific knowledge has increased and the evidence in support of climate change and resource depletion has gradually accumulated, it has become increasingly apparent that we must make additional efforts to preserve our planet and its resources for future generations. Perhaps even more so than individuals, corporations have a responsibility to meet green targets and implement environmental policies; here at Staples Advantage, that’s a responsibility we take very seriously indeed. Take a look at some of the ways in which we strive to stay green, and you can too...
Environmental reporting
It’s tempting to imagine that alternative energy sources such as solar or wind power represent the single greatest tools to help meet green targets, or that recycling and the responsible use of chemicals is the best way to combat resource depletion. In reality, you’ll come to rely on something far more prosaic to ensure that you stay green in future: data. We use detailed data to analyse the effectiveness of our sustainable initiatives and make necessary improvements over time, and we can even offer you the same service. Our environmental reporting service will provide you with quarterly business reviews into your environmental policies and processes, providing you with the data you need to understand that your sustainability efforts are worthwhile. Additionally, you can use our sustainability calculators to quantify your current impact on the environment, and track how even small changes may help your organisation to save thousands.
Footprint reduction
‘Carbon footprint’ is something of a buzzword in environmental circles at the moment, although the term is an important one in understanding the relationship between a business and the environment. Your carbon footprint refers to the quantity of carbon dioxide gas created as a by-product of your company’s day-to-day operations – by running a fleet of vehicles, for example, or shipping products from overseas. Here at Staples Advantage we strive to reduce our carbon footprint and have set ourselves the target of decreasing our carbon emissions by 50% on our 2010 figure by the year 2020. Thus far we have implemented energy saving lighting solutions, invested in green energy schemes and looked to offset our carbon emissions where possible to that end. Perhaps you could look to take similar initiatives?
Green initiatives
Our commitment to environmentalism runs deep, which is why we have looked to implement as many green initiatives as possible throughout our business structure. We have an environmental management system in place that looks to analyse and improve our efforts on a year-by-year basis, and a big part of this system is our business review process. We ask our clients and customers to provide feedback on our environmental efforts when they work with us, and in this way, we can learn from your suggestions in order to improve in future. Hopefully, you’ll be able to learn from us too!
Eco-conscious products and services
While we can cast an eye over our own business and make whatever environmental efforts we may deem appropriate, it’s important that we extend that philosophy to our clients and customers too. As such we provide a number of eco-conscious products and services for you to make use of in your own business, ensuring that our commitment to environmentalism is a thorough and consistent one. Recycled and sustainable office products, eco-friendly facility solutions, tips and resources for other green-conscious businesses and easy-on-the-planet products that meet our stringent environmental criteria – all of these products and services can provide you with practical solutions without the guilt associated with less conscientious alternatives.
Here at Staples Advantage the environment is important to us, and we hope that it’s important to you too. To find out more about our efforts to stay green, take a look at our environmental report or contact us for more information. Alternatively, why not call 0844 557 5757 to speak to a dedicated advisor, who can make suggestions on how Staples Advantage can help to improve your own environmental policies.
