One in five office workers start the week stressed
Weekends are meant to rejuvenate us ready for the new working week, but a recent survey suggests that some staff still feel tired, stressed, anxious or depressed on Monday morning. The survey also revealed the factors that most affect employee motivation and productivity.
Employee motivation
The survey also asked respondents about the factors that most affected workplace productivity. Almost a third of respondents said that a higher salary would boost their motivation, while 24% said that having financial security improves their performance. 16% of respondents said that their motivation and performance was affected by stress, with 14% saying that unpleasant colleagues affected their motivation. 14% of those questioned said that a lack of financial incentive actively damaged their productivity and motivation. An unmanageable workload affected the motivation of 13% of respondents.
Although these figures are reasonably low, they show that some employers still fail to successfully manage employees, with many neglecting to manage employees’ workloads and provide fair financial incentives to their workforce.
